The primary role of the Director of Operations and Product Development is to be responsible for identifying and exploring machines, processes, safety, and environmental improvements for all machines and business operations Rercircle engages in. They will be responsible for reducing environmental impacts and applying sustainable principles; such as conducting internal audits on Recircle’s environmental impact through a scientific and mathematical lens. They will collaborate with the chemistry, engineering and innovation teams with the support of St.FX to develop and test adaptations to the existing recycling process while implementing sustainable products with long life cycles. They will attempt to find the most efficient and sustainable ways to collect, clean, sort, and process plastic and other natural resources. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Director of Operations and Product Development include but are not limited to:
Researching academic studies of industrial plastic machinery and how they can be applied to a small-scale operation
Working alongside the chemistry department at St.FX to research and test sanitization methods for plastic and wastewater
Working alongside the engineering department at St.FX to research machine and process improvements with plastic recycling
Coordinating monthly update meetings with the St.FX faculty of science team while utilizing Trello
Prepare engineering report on the machine and process improvements to be presented to the Recirccle team at the end of the term
Keep an updated logbook for each machine and overall process using a ghantt chart
Ensure project feasibility through continual evaluation of structural integrity and design practicality through simulated and actual experimentation
Design control systems and machine structures using AutoCAD and Inventor
Develop the full Engineering process flow and supply chain with Visio
Create designs and simulate process outcomes using Beaumont
Forecast design and construction time frames using Trello

Implement sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost-effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs
Identifies and facilitates training as needed

Creating short&long-term plans and initiatives to accomplish company goals efficiently
Researching, designing, implementing, and managing software programs using AutoCAD, Inventor, and Visio
Must be experienced in AutoCAD, Inventor, Visio, and Trello
