Business Information: David Ysselstein’s farm is a beef feedlot. We feed 2200 cows approximately on an acreage located at the south of Woodstock. On the same farm, we also have broiler breeder chickens for hatching egg production. Our farm produces fertilized eggs that will hatch into baby chicks.

Job Description

Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas.

Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses.

Consider water saturation, light and temperature when planning for crop growth and development.

Diagnose livestock and poultry health issues.

Direct farm feed inventory activities.

Handling animals.

Monitoring animal health.

Treat livestock and poultry health issues.

Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.

Maintain financial and production records.

Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.

Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.

Formulate feeding program.

Maintain livestock performance records.

Maintain quality control and production records.

Poultry equipment maintenance.

Perform general farm duties.

Oversee poultry bird day old placement.

Oversee poultry feeding and ventilations systems and controls.

Oversee barn clean out.

Oversee chicken catching.

Oversee poultry vaccination.

Oversee grading on chickens.

Respond to poultry barn alarms and fix issues.

Oversee schedule of general farms workers working in poultry.

Work with Feed reps and Vets to address poultry health and growth.

Be on Call Nights and weekends to fix or address issues in the poultry barns.

Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a general farm worker is required. If the candidate does not have at least 2 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate related to the field is required.

Salary: $34.07 hourly, 55-60 hours per week

Benefits: Accommodation and bonus at the end of the year are provided.

Important Information: The candidate will work 6 days per week. Flexibility on schedule is required as some days will start earlier and others finish later, 9-11 hours per day, set anywhere between 4 AM and 8 PM. Weekend work, overtime, as well as, work during holidays will be required based on the business needs, on-call work is required.

2 breaks of 15 minutes each (paid) and 30 minutes of unpaid lunchtime.
