Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Canada summer job student is responsible for the successful completion of the project allotted. Qualified candidates possess exceptional organizational and documentation skills, work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and hold values that support our corporate vision of being “A community where youth are embraced and will thrive”.
Responsibilities, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide accounting and administrative support, including assistance with financial software implementation and audit preparation.
- Support financial reporting and analysis tasks, including data validation and document organization for audits and reviews.
- Perform general office administrative duties such as filing, creating mailing labels, sorting documents, and assisting with mail and cheque runs.
- Enter and manage financial and administrative data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Represent the finance department at community events, maintaining professionalism and promoting organizational values.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with accounting or financial software is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to represent the organization at public or community-facing events
- Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Should be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment. The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, a youth visa, or a work visa, are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labor market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labor market.
