London Justice Centre

The London Justice Centre, located on the second floor of Joan’s Place, increases access to justice for young adults aged 18–24 by bringing court proceedings and critical supports into a community setting where many young people already access services.

Serving young adults involved in the criminal justice system, the centre provides coordinated supports that help address the root causes of justice involvement. Participants can access legal services alongside housing, mental health, addictions, education, and employment supports, helping ensure timely, integrated support tailored to their needs.

Before the justice centre launched in 2020, young adults aged 18–24 at the courthouse had a recidivism rate of 64%. Among eligible participants who completed justice centre programming, that rate has dropped to 21%.

The London Justice Centre is a collaborative effort between Youth Opportunities Unlimited, CMHA Thames Valley, St. Leonard’s Community Services, Anova, Changing Ways, Legal Aid Ontario, the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Ministry of the Attorney General.
