Reporting to the Facility Manager the Cleaner is responsible for keeping YOU sites in clean and orderly condition. This position will work closely with the Custodial Team Lead to ensure all YOU Sites are maintained to ensure respect and integrity for the youth we serve. Qualified candidates possess exceptional communication and leadership skills, work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and hold values that support our corporate vision of being “A community where youth are embraced and will thrive”.

Responsibilities:

  • The Cleaner is responsible for heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, cleaning and stocking restrooms, washing walls, glass and upholstered furniture, and removing rubbish.
  • Work independently while performing routine maintenance activities and notifying management of the need for repairs.
  • Track supply inventory and notify management when restocking is required.
  • Responsible for following all health and safety policies while working.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years related work experience is preferred
  • First Aid is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of standards for cleanliness and hygiene
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Open Availability: for early mornings, evenings, and weekends work may be required to support special events and to accommodate meetings and program delivery.
  • Applicant needs to be able to stand for long periods of time (90% of a work day) and able to lift 50+lbs occasionally; some twisting and bending of the back and neck is also required at the job.
  • Having reliable transport in and around the London area is required to clean multiple Y.O.U. Facilities.
  • Applicants need to have excellent communication skills to communicate with the shelter’s stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • Applicants need to be able to read safety labels.
  • Need to be able to use technology to attend online meetings on MS Teams and communicate with staff on Outlook.
