Job Description

Install, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems: Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of components on truck and trailer refrigeration units.
Install, maintain and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks used to transport food or medical supplies: Maintaining transport refrigeration unit on trucks and trailers by performing diagnostics using scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board computers, completing preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service to refrigeration equipment.
Measure and lay out reference points for installation
Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components: Installing various new units on trailers, trucks, vans
Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
Start-up system and test for leaks using testing devices
Recharge system with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate system and perform routine maintenance or servicing
Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning: Maintains transport truck and trailer refrigeration units and truck APU’s by reviewing shop orders; listening to operator complaints; repairing failures; removing, replacing, testing for Freon leaks, assembling, and installing parts and components involving soldering , welding and the use of refrigeration equipment.
Coach and instruct apprentices
Provide customer service
Drive a mobile truck to and from customers’ locations

Requirements

- Education: Completion of high school is required

- Experience: Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over three years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in mechanics is required.

- A valid ‘G’ driver’s license is required. If the candidate does not have a valid Ontario license, he/she must be eligible to obtain one.

- Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate is required. If the candidate does not have an ODP card, he/she must be eligible to obtain one.

- Work conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding; Handling heavy loads up to 75 lbs; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Bending, crouching, kneeling; Fast-paced environment.

- Work Site Environment: Dusty, noisy, Cold, hot, at heights

- Personal suitability: Dependability, reliability, judgement, team player, organized.

- Language: English is required

Salary: $30 - $32 per hour, 40-44 hours per week.
