Job description
Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted
Repair cracks and holes
Mix paint to desired colour and texture
Measure, cut and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls
Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings
Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging
Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces
May estimate costs and materials
Instruct and train apprentices
Requirements
-Education: Completion of high school
-Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary certificate is required Or Completion of a three-to four-year apprenticeship program will help to qualify.
-Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Ability to distinguish between colours, Physically demanding
-Work site environment: At heights, Confined spaces, Outdoors
-Personal Suitability: Team player, Reliability
Salary: $21.00 to $22.00 per hour, 40 Hours per week
Benefits: Transportation costs covered if worker needs to relocate. Also, transportation from one work location to another will be provided.
Important information:
-This position will require working Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM with 60 minutes of unpaid lunch and two 15-minute unpaid breaks
-The worker will rotate in different construction/building sites throughout London, Ottawa and Kingston.
