Job Description:
Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner
Calculate weight, distance, volume and length measurements
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment, tanks
Operate computer controlled equipment
Complete onboard and other logs
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
Prepare accident reports
Secure special attachments to equipment
Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
Perform minor repairs to equipment
Operate hydraulic pumping systems
Utilize safety data sheets (SDS)
Maintain roadways and operate various types of equipment
Be able to help around plant when needed (maintenance, grounds keeping, general tidying of plant and yard)
Document all repairs performed each shift and make notes of any upcoming repairs required (Preventative Maintenance)
Requirements:
-Education: Some secondary school is required.
-Experience: Completion of a one-to two-year apprenticeship program or some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment operating combined with on-the-job training are required.
-Experience in maintenance of equipment is an asset
-Experience in working around crushing equipment is an asset.
-Mechanical skills are an asset.
-Type of Heavy Equipment Operated: Backhoe excavator, forklift, front end loader
-Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, manual dexterity, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, physically demanding, sitting, standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, hand-eye coordination, repetitive tasks, overtime required.

-Safety Boot Requirements: These are not initially provided by the company. Boots must have a minimum of 6 inch high ankle protection, CSA Grade 1 rated. Boot allowance provided after 1000 hours worked.
Salary: $29.85 per hour, 49.5-60 hours per week.

Important information: The regular schedule will be from Monday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM OR from 6:00 PM to 5:30 AM. On Fridays, from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM OR from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Hence, flexibility on schedule is required. The schedule includes one unpaid 30-minute meal break for every five hours worked. Work on weekends and holidays may be required depending on the business’ needs. Overtime will be required. After 50 hours of work per week, overtime will be paid at 1.5 times regular hourly rate, and 2 times regular hourly rate on Sundays and holidays. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours of work per week during the winter.
