CELEBRATING 25 YEARS, RUNNERS’ CHOICE GIVES BACK TO COMMUNITY YOUTH
LONDON, ON – To celebrate twenty-five years of business, Runners’ Choice is donating twenty-five pairs of running shoes to Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), to benefit local youth runners with financial need. As part of the YOU Learn to Run program, the shoes will help the athletes prepare for September’s Springbank Road Race, which in turn supports our local community. The shoes will be donated at Runners’ Choice, 207 Dundas Street, London on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:00PM.
“Being involved in the community is something that has always been important to us, so this seemed like a natural fit,” said Brian Hagemeier, owner of Runners’ Choice. “I feel that being a local independent retailer we have an obligation to support our local community however we can. Having run for many years I know how it can have a positive impact on your life; hopefully we’ll be able to inspire some young individuals and have a positive impact on them for years to come.”
Serving more than 3,600 youth each year in London and Middlesex, YOU provides a caring and active place where youth aged sixteen to twenty-nine are engaged in learning and creating opportunities to build their future. The Learn to Run program will keep participants motivated and active so they get in the habit of running in addition to eating healthy and living healthy.
“As much as this is about running, this is more about community,” said Steve Cordes, Executive Director of YOU. “We have a community supporting our youth to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, which improves their social network, relationships, and helps them feel and become more integrated into the community.”
Runners’ Choice customers will also benefit with this silver anniversary celebration beginning June 27. Each day for 25 days, a different brand of shoes, clothing, and accessories will be reduced by 25% giving huge savings on high performance gear.
Runners’ Choice is known for their expertise when it comes to fitting shoes. Staff turnover is a rarity and monthly product training ensures they understand the best fit for runners, walkers, and those with injuries or sore feet. In fact, 40 percent of their customers are non-runners.
